Decorated in the white and yellow colors of the Vatican, the fresh Vatican news portal brings together holy information from all of the church’s radio, television and print outlets as well as most recent tweets and news about its missionary work in the developing world.
Pope earlier warned of social networking dangers
Despite the Vatican’s forays into social networking, earlier this year the leader of the Catholic Church, based in Vatican City, warned about social networking’s possible dangers. He said social networking can help dialogue, exchange, solidarity and the creation of positive relations but at the same time warned about the potential risks associated with the this growing trend.
Entering cyberspace can be a sign of an authentic search for personal encounters with others, provided that attention is paid to avoiding dangers such as enclosing oneself in a sort of parallel existence, or excessive exposure to the virtual world, he said. In the search for sharing, for friends , there is the challenge to be authentic and faithful, and not give in to the illusion of constructing an artificial public profile for oneself.
